# Pareto ICP and Founder Personas

## ICP (one paragraph)

A US founder-owner of an established, founder-led small or medium business, typically agency, coaching/speaking, or service firm, at roughly $500K+ a year and up into the 7–8 figures, with a team already in place but no one owning their inbox, calendar, follow-ups and operations. They are the bottleneck: work waits on them, things live in their head, and they work longer than they planned when they started the business. Many have already hired a VA or EA who waited for instructions and failed. They can pay about $3,600 a month and want to buy back 40+ hours a month within weeks, not run a long hiring project. Excluded: solo operators with no team, early-stage founders below the revenue line, and anyone looking for the cheapest task-doer.

Sources: revenue floor and US founder-led (Second Brain offer note, Day 3 reverse interview; P12, unverified on public site); "7 & 8-figure founders", 40+ hours, price (paretotalent.com/matching, P3); solo exclusion (Day 6 ~L1465); burned-before (P1, P9); persona types (Day 8 board, P6).

## Personas by cause

Reduced from the four working hypotheses to three. "Uncertain delegator" is folded into persona 1 as its most common symptom ("I don't know what to hand off").

### 1. The Bottleneck: "I'm the bottleneck in my own company"

| | |
|---|---|
| Cause | Decisions, approvals and knowledge live only in the founder's head; nothing has been handed over as ownership |
| Symptoms | Everything waits on them; things fall through the cracks; runs from memory; doesn't know what to hand off first |
| Likely business | Agency owner with many clients (Day 8 persona 1) |
| Objection | "It's faster if I do it myself" / "No one knows how I want it done" (paraphrase, not sourced verbatim) |
| Desired outcome | The business runs a week without them; loops closed without being asked |
| Trigger | A dropped client ball, a missed follow-up, or a planned holiday they can't take |
| Language | Bank #1, #6, #18 |

### 2. The Overloaded Operator: "I built a company and now I'm working in it as a job"

| | |
|---|---|
| Cause | Admin and communications volume outgrew one person; founder became the message router |
| Symptoms | Drowning in admin; 12-hour days; inbox is a full-time job; too many hats |
| Likely business | Coach, speaker or consultant who is also the face of the brand (Day 8 persona 2) |
| Objection | "Someone else won't sound like me" (Day 8, paraphrase) |
| Desired outcome | Hours back for growth and family; inbox and calendar handled in their voice |
| Trigger | Burnout moment, a family event missed, or a growth opportunity they have no time to take |
| Language | Bank #2, #3, #7, #8, #16, #17 |

### 3. The Burned Buyer: "I've had three assistants before… I was burning through them"

| | |
|---|---|
| Cause | Past VA/EA was reactive (waited for instructions), unvetted, or produced "AI fluff" |
| Symptoms | Low trust; over-checks work; reluctant to share access |
| Likely business | Established firm (e.g. 50 staff) or any founder who already tried a VA (Day 8 persona 3; P1 says 60%+ of Pareto clients) |
| Objection | "I tried this already, it didn't work" / "I don't have HR time to manage another hire" |
| Desired outcome | A vetted, proactive person, with a replacement guarantee |
| Trigger | Another assistant quits or underperforms |
| Language | Bank #4, #5, #9, #14 |

## Unverified

- Revenue floor $500K/yr comes from a Day 3 interview recorded in the Second Brain, not from a current public page.
- Objection wording for persona 1 is a paraphrase, not a sourced quote.
- Persona weighting (which is largest) is not known; P1 % figures are Pareto's unsourced claims.
