# Day 3 — Second Brain Systems

- A Second Brain has two connected layers: a static context layer and a live action layer.
- Context includes SOPs, company and founder history, contracts and offer terms, strategy, books and interviews, and call or client language.
- The action layer keeps context current through connectors such as Gmail, Calendar, Slack, Fathom, Notion, and a CRM.
- Access is earned in stages: read-only access to the current task first, broader maintenance access after trust, and explicit approval for client-facing, financial, or irreversible actions.
- Keep the files local in a synced Drive folder for speed. Obsidian is only a human-friendly window into plain Markdown files.
- Claude navigates through a Map of Content (MOC), then opens only the relevant file and follows links when needed. This keeps retrieval focused.
- Link notes as they are written. Unlinked context is functionally invisible, and manual filing causes the structure to drift.
- For a founder, collect the material through a structured intake call or mine existing recordings and documents. The source still needs to be organized and linked.
- Daily extraction should capture promises, decisions, tasks, sources, blockers, today's priorities, and meeting context in a Morning Brief.
- Common failure modes: connected tools with no briefing, broken front matter or MOCs, manual filing, unlinked notes, mixed personal and business audiences, and permissions that are never revoked.
- Retrieval test: ask three questions whose answers are already known, then confirm the correct file was found, not merely that the answer sounds plausible.
- A README should let a successor pick up the system cold. The goal is to make the operator replaceable in a good way.
- Homework: build a Kasim starter brain with at least five documents, upload it to a Claude Project, record the retrieval test, and prepare a founder tutorial.

## Relevance to the final project

- The final project needs a Pareto Talent mini brain, an ICP and persona layer, a source-backed competitor review, and a trustworthy gap register.
